Company Profile, Products & Technologies, Target Market:

BirdsVision is an Israeli based company that was co-founded in 2007 by Dr. Ofer Bahat and Noah Satat, aiming to develop and produce Hi-tech solutions for the detection, identification and automatic deterrence of animal hazards (mainly birds) for the energy industry. The proposed product is a system that automatically detters birds and bats from wind farms, using a unique and inovative technology that incorporates special wavelengths and modulations. Birds and bats deaths from collisions with wind turbines are an ongoing environmental issue, affecting wind energy development. Wind energy, in particular, is a major part of the Renewables Portfolio Standard (RPS). High wind areas are also prime habitat for many protected avian species, mostly raptors, as well as bats which may be protected under strict laws. Major wind developments have caused numerous bird and bats deaths on a global scale thus preventing the developments of new wind farms and shuting down existing infrastructures.

Brief description of proposed R&D project:

Many existing or proposed wind energy projects around the world are either shut down or cancelled due to the conflict with birds and bats. The proposed project is focused on developing a comprehensive solution for the wind energy industry to prevent the conflict with birds and bats, the economic losses and the losses of endangered species. The solution is a Hi-tech system that will incorporate unique innovations to ensure reliable deterrence of birds and bats from windfarms. It will include detection and deterrence sub-units that will operate when a targeted exclusion zone around a wind turbine is violated. The proposed system will incorporate acoustic and visual components using unique wavelengths that will be modulated in order to avoid habituation by the animals. These and other features of the system are part of a patent issued by BirdsVision Ltd.

Desired Profile of R&D Partner and its role in the proposed project:

BirdsVision Ltd. is seeking for a Singapore based partner for the proposed R&D project. This partner may be part of the wind energy industry, e.g. a company manufacturing wind turbines, turbine blades or a local utility that uses wind turbines. The role of the partner is to take an active part in the R&D process of the different componenets and their useage at wind farms and on the turbines themselvs.

R&D Partner Search

SIIRD promotes, facilitates and funds joint industrial R&D collaboration between Singapore-based companies and Israel-based companies.

R&D Partner Search Request Form

Please complete the 'R&D Partner Search Request Form' if your company is interested to search for technology partner in Singapore or Israel for joint R&D collaboration.

Our offices in Singapore and Israel will attempt to do a matching and make initial contact with any company which might be of interest to you.

The form will only be used for the purpose of matching potential R&D collaboration partners in Singapore and Israel under the SIIRD programme.

Companies who have been matched and who would like to jointly apply for funding for research and development  activities can do so by following the instructions in the  Proposal Submission page.

Alternatively, companies can refer to the lists of companies from Singapore and Israel who have indicated interest to look for R&D partners. Please contact the SIIRD Management if you have identified suitable partners from the lists and we will link you up with the relevant parties. Please refer to the hyperlinks above for access to the lists.

"SIIRD offers a great way to find complementary technology partners from Israel, which is probably the home of the most innovative small high tech companies in the world. The process of working with the Israeli companies is a valuable experience in itself."
