ThermoTerra captures a new source of renewable energy – Humidity Power – to heat and cool buildings, reducing energy consumption by up to 50%.

We utilise evaporative cooling (when water evaporates it absorbs energy, creating a cooling effect) and absorption heating (when water is absorbed it releases energy as heat). Except instead of using running water, we utilise natural fluctuations in humidity.

Our technology is installed into building facades (the “SmartWall”). As humidity rises in the night, our technology stores energy as absorbed water. The absorption process releases energy, heating at night (saving energy in heating systems). During the day, the stored water evaporates, creating a cooling effect (saving on HVAC).

We launched the company in end-2015 and have spent the last 5 years funded by grants and small amounts of private capital.

We are the only company in the world to use humidity power and hold three global patents.

Having completed our POCs, we are now building a full pilot in Israel. Our next step is the Asian / Singaporean. Singapore’s advanced building industry and focus on sustainability (e.g. government support of energy retrofits) makes it an ideal market. In addition, the high humidity fluctuations are ideal for the product.

We are currently developing two products.

The first is a ventilated facade product, where our technology is installed into the ventilated facade, saving on Opex of heating and cooling.

The second is a double skin facade product (glass-clad buildings), where our use of humidity power can save on CapEx of installing products such as fans, and allow for taller buildings.

We are proposing a pilot of the humidity power product in Singapore. We intend to build a mock up wall, or full building, using our humidity power product, to show how we can heat and cool in Singapore using only humidity power.

This would start with site identification, follow by a detailed simulation, then experiments to test the results of the simulation, and finally a full pilot based on revisions to the simulation.

We would provide the technical knowhow for the humidity power product, and set up the pilot, including overview and testing.

We are seeking partners in the construction industry (real estate developers, facade manufacturers, architects, sustainability consultants) with a deep knowledge of building facades and the ability to help set up a pilot.
